The Beta 1 of DirectX 7.0 was posted in May 20 in the DirectX Premium Site. The Software Development Kit for Developers is 75MB, the Run-Time is 6.5MB and the Debug Run-Time is  7.5MB.

Windows 98 Second Edition Final! Posted by: Capeman in 05/26/99.

This is a new version of Windows 98 that has many bugfixes and new features like Internet Explorer 5.0, Windows Media Player 6.2, DirectX 6.2 and more. The build of the final release is 2222.3. There will be a speacial "StepUp" version for Windows 98 users that will be around $20. The Full Version will be $150 and the Upgrade at $99. It should hit stores in mid June.

We have been informed that the DirectX 7.0 testers were invited to test Windows 2000 because Windows 2000 has DirectX 7.0. The DirectX 7.0 testers will recieve a Windows 2000 Beta 3 kit that has Windows 2000 Professional Debug and Non-Debug, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows 2000 Software Development Kit, and the Windows 2000 Driver Development Kit making it a total of 6 CD's.

All of you programmers out there may be happy to hear that Microsoft has made official guidelines to deem an application Windows 2000 certified. Applications certified for Windows 2000 take advantage of reliability and manageability improvements in Windows 2000. The result is well-behaved applications that require less administration and downtime, while providing more manageable configurations.
